Dear music lovers,
Welcome to our season of celebration, our 60th season! Since 1964, Cantata Singers have been bringing choral music to our nation’s capital and beyond, with hundreds of concerts, and thousands of works from all over the world. This season, we celebrate the past, look to the future and take pride in our musical place in Ottawa and Canada.
We start with Rachmaninoff’s Vespers, the All-Night Vigil. The Vespers is a signature piece of CSO, who have performed it seven times under three different conductors.
Arctic Soundscapes will explore works inspired by the Arctic, including works by several of
Canada’s leading composers. Our celebration concert, CSO@60, culminates in a performance of Haydn’s magnificent Nelson Mass, a piece that we last performed on our 10th anniversary in 1974!
Come and experience the inspiring world of choral music with us.
We are also pleased that this December we will be back performing Handel’s Messiah with our friends at the National Arts Centre Orchestra. We hope to see you there!
