Stay safe!

Dear music lovers,

This is an unprecedented time for choirs. Since COVID-19 restrictions started in March, the Cantata Singers have fallen silent, for the first time since our founding 57 years ago. The choristers have missed many hours of music-making joy together, and our audience have been deprived of two beautiful concerts.

As soon as it is permitted and safe, the Cantata Singers of Ottawa will sing again.

The CSO executive and I are working to ensure that the choir is ready to restart as soon as it is permitted and safe. There will be opportunities to sing with us and hear us over the course of the 2020-21 season but things will be different. Perhaps we will be outside or spread about, maybe we will sing in smaller groups or at a distance. We will make it work.

Information about our 2020-21 season will be updated on our website soon.

We have developed several plans for safe music-making next season, plans designed to be flexible and adaptable to circumstances as they develop. I promise the season will be full of fun and beautiful music. The CSO will continue to strive for excellence in choral music, and support local artists and talent.

Singing and choirs are important.

The absence of singing and choirs from my life has made me more aware than ever of the importance of singing; socially, physically and mentally. I am yearning for when we can make music together again.

With strong wishes for your good health and in hopes of seeing you soon,

Andrew McAnerney
