I am delighted to invite you to our 53rd season, a season full of great music to delight and entrance.
We start with Shakespeare in Song, an exploration of music connected with the Bard. We will cover five centuries of music including a renaissance drinking song by Orlando Lassus, Vaughan Williams' beautiful choral arrangement of Greensleeves, and contemporary setting of Shakespeare's words by Canadian composer Harry Freedman.
At Christmas we are delighted to present a Family Christmas Spectacular with guest artists Caroline Leonardelli, Ottawa Children's choir and Cathedral Brass. With familiar festive pieces, sing along, and trumpet fanfares, this will be a great celebration for all the family.
Our season concludes with Venetian Vespers by Candlelight. With sackbuts, cornets, and some carnival surprises, come and hear wonderful music by Monteverdi, Gabrieli, and the celebrated renaissance female composer, Vittoria Aleotti.
We are also delighted to be appearing in two fabulous off-season events. In May 2017 we will be appearing in at the National Arts Centre performances of Mozart's Requiem. We will also be taking a central role in the Canada 150 celebrations in June 2017 with Sing Ottawa en choeur, a weekend-long celebration of choral singing in Ottawa featuring choirs and music from across Canada culminating in a final celebration concert where everybody is encouraged to sing.
Our 53rd season is going to be a great season, I encourage you to join in and support us however you can.
