Cantata Singers of Ottawa
Home > Performances > 2004 - 2005 (41st Season) Content updated 10 February 2006

The concerts in the first half of the season were in conjunction with various organizations: the Outaouais Festival of Sacred Music, Project Hellas and the National Arts Centre.

The three concerts in the second half of the season comprised the choir's concert series. Each of these concerts (on March 5, April 17 and May 29) was conducted by one of the three candidates to replace Laurence Ewashko, who was the Music Director of the Cantata Singers of Ottawa from September, 1988 to January, 2005.

More details about our concert series...

On Sunday May 29, James Caswell took the baton for Children of Light. The Ottawa Children's Choir led the program with John Rutter's Mass of the Children.

Tim Shantz led us in À la française on Saturday March 5. This concert focused on music by French composers and music in the language of France. Its highlight was Maurice Duruflé's beautiful Requiem. Elizabeth Turnbull, Luc Lalonde and Wesley Warren joined us for this program.

Nova Iberia, on Sunday April 17, was conducted by Michael Zaugg. In this concert, we highlighted some of the musical treasures of Spain and Latin America, with Argentinean composer Ariel Ramírez's Misa Criolla highlighting the program. Ottawa soprano Maria Knapik joined us for this performance.
